It’s always nice to show-off our spectacular Table Mountain, which is completely under-represented in films.
Also important to take a break from ‘action’ and ‘talking scenes’, and show a character on their own.

Making the most of B+W

I hope someone finds this as interesting as I do 🙂 I’m giving away state secrets here…
I mentioned before how you can stretch the range of info in B+W tremendously by using the colour channels.
Here is an example, using Jessica who was in an acting workshop last week.
On the left are the B+W images, and on the right, the original coloured ones, some quite dramatic.

The 1st image is a straight de-sat job.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The 2nd Image had the reds and green suppressed and the blues pushed. You can see the result in her darker eyes, but lighter lips. A more moody 60’s look.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The 3rd image has had the reverse done. Look how great her eyes look – the eyelashes stand out, the pupils are bright, and the lips have a nice contrast line in the middle. Jolly good.
